CityAirbus is an all-electric, four-seat, multicopter vehicle demonstrator that focuses on advancing remotely piloted electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) flight. In March 2019 Airbus presented the model of the CityAirbus to the public on the town hall square in Ingolstadt. The unmanned maiden flight took place on 3 May 2019 in Donauwörth.
When Airbus set out to develop a visionary flying mobility concept, Genesis Design was commissioned to lead the design development of the CityAirbus. During the ideation phase, our focus was on translating complex technology into an innovative, credible and forward-looking design with the presence expected of a global brand like Airbus.
For the AH-610, we translated advanced aerospace engineering into precision-focused design. Every surface, interface, and control element was crafted to optimize pilot ergonomics, operational efficiency, and mission performance. Our focus combined functional clarity with refined aesthetics, ensuring that every cockpit element and external detail supports safety, usability, and technical excellence.
The final CityAirbus integrates eight rotors into four clearly defined drive units. Their partially open construction reduces air resistance while giving the aircraft a light and distinctive appearance. Our design contribution combined aerodynamic efficiency and functionality with a strong visual identity, helping to turn an ambitious vision into a flying product.
